Anyone gluten free??

Recommended Posts

I'm gluten intolerant also and I'm pre-op for a sleeve. Have either of you had your surgery yet and if so have you run into any issues with being GF and needing to follow your new diets? I'm pretty good at the GF now I'm just wondering if it will really be any more different for me with regard to Protein dinks, etc.

Thanks for the input!

I was erroneously dxd with CD a few years ago (positive endoscopy, negative blood tests -- its opposite world!!) A second round of tests recently un-dxd me.

I did eat true GF for a couple of years -- its is a tough job, not sure it will change post-surgery. But it truly is tough and I wish you all the best!

Wishin you girls the best!!! I think this is a unique opportunity to do a kind of elimination diet! Then add things back that are very pure and very slowly and keep your food journal of specific events after eating.

I did this and have been keeping a spread sheet. I'm still pre-op, but did a "play acting" post wls diet complete with only Protein Drinks when I first started the march to WLS in May. I have found SOOO many useful notes on food additions! :D Good times!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
