If you are going to have McDonalds.....

Recommended Posts

I wanted McDonald's today. I'm almost 4 months post op and it is allowed, but it's been many months since I've had fast food. I ordered 1 cheeseburger and medium fries. I also asked for the McDonald's Nutrition Facts which is a free and very handy guide to all the nutrition for all the food they serve. It breaks down each item on the menu and gives you total fat, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, sodium, total carbs, sugar, and most important Protein all in grams. It of course also gives you calories, but I don't look at calories anymore. It's all about how much protein I intake and watch how much fat too. Maybe some of you already know about this guide, but I'm really happy to have it because sometimes when you're out and about and you need to eat, fast food is the easiest choice.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
