This is happening and I'm crying!!!

I really hate to sound vain, but wow, this is difficult to deal with. If I were a man, I would just shave the head and grow a goatee and be sexy as hell!!! But that doesn't work for the ladies does it? Just as I start feeling good about myself again, this. My hair has always been very fine and since the huge shedding that happened after the birth of my son 10 years ago, I have not had much to lose. For now, I'm disguising a huge part and mucho scalp with keratin fibers and root touch-up, but I may have to resort to some sort of a topper or something. I really worry that it won't grow back. My mother's hair thinned out so much as she aged and I'm guessing I've inherited that from her.

Still wouldn't change course now even if I could. I did this for my health and I'm feeling really good, but damn!!!! This is what I lost when I washed my hair. Yes, I gathered it up from the drain and took a picture. :o I do not wash my hair every day, more like twice per week. Thinking of switching to a nioxin Shampoo? ?? Do you think it would help?

And just for the record, I get 80 - 100 grams of Protein daily, plenty of Water (70 oz min), I take my Multi-Vitamin, plus a Biotin supplement. I know it's not the end of the world, but it sure makes it more difficult and time consuming to get out the door. Someone please tell me it will grow back!!! Also, any ideas for disguising this thinned out mess until it does?

If you experienced Hair loss, when did you notice thickness return? I'm 4 months out, so I'm guessing this is just the beginning. I will be bald very soon.

I have alopecia due to pcos so I do understand what your going through. My best advice is taking your Vitamins but also ensure they contain Selenium as it helps strengthen nails, hair etc.

Do NOT try Nioxin.

I've tried and hundreds of other people will testify to the chemical burns they received as it is so strong.

As for hair, it will return but time for some basic treatments like banana & beer hair smoothies, just add to dry hair and clingfilm for an hour then wash out.

A good hairdresser will also be or have contact with a scalp specialist - speak to them and get any length out the hair as it will pull on the roots and make them weaker.

My Hair loss is the crown, scalp very noticeable and I don't GAF anymore as I'm used to it.

Good luck

The bad news is -- this is as a result of a period of malnutrition that's in the past. ): I've been told that if you have hair loss, there's little you can do to stop it, since it's from something that happened months before finally catching up to you.

The good news is -- IT GROWS BACK!! It's temporary!!!! Buy a hat; my NUT promised that if I had Hair loss, it'd come back again after, and was just a temporary thing. Since your body is missing certain nutrients, it shut down "unnecessary" functions to save up on them. But once you've stabilized again, it turns them back on...

I began losing hair like take this at five months. I bought a great wig when I realized I needed it, and got plenty of compliments. I wore a hat at times at the beach, or boating. After almost two years it is now healthy. Some people tell you what to do. Phooey! I did it all. Good luck!

Hats and wigs. Keep up with your nutrition so it will grow back in nice later. I'm gonna be in the same boat since I already lost half of it through pregnancies.

I'm taking Bariatric Advantage. It has 70 mcg of selenium. Is that enough? Oh and I love your attitude! I need to get me some more of that I don't GAF!!! Apparently, I'm running low.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'm scared to death it won't grow back. I can handle just about anything knowing that it is temporary. Just having doubts and frustrations trying to figure out a way to feel confident. Need to go listen to some India Arie... I am not my hair!!!

Definitely add Biotin to your daily routine! Also, try Toppix hair building fibers to mask the thinning hair. You can pick it up at Ulta or Sally's Beauty Supply stores. It's great to use as a fill in when needed!

I was listening to a wls podcast with a wls nutrition doctor talking about Hair loss. She said by the time you begin to notice it, the hair follicle began it's shedding cycle at least 100 days prior by stopping growing and eventually falling out. So nothing you do today can go back in time and change the cycle. And even if you could, you'd have to go back and not have surgery or not lose a lot of weight. The good news is, you are well into the cycle and new hairs are beginning to grow. It just takes a long time for you to see the regrowth. And then you'll look like a baby chick with pokey feathers all over!

I've been told Monet hair products help. They have a line especially for Hair loss. I use them but I am not using the ones for hair loss as I haven't had my surgery yet. I am however, going to switch over just in case. Not sold in stores, maybe a salon that is a distributor

So a little retail therapy was the perfect cheer-up. I've been buying from thrift stores and consignment shops as I cycle thru sizes, but decided on a splurge of something new. Came home with size 10 pants and Med top. OMG!!! I was a 12-14 even in high school.... back in the stone age. Size 10 y'all. I can't believe it! Yep, I'll wear a wig, a hat, whatever... smile on my face again. :-)

Oh plenty lass, and you could add more if you can buy it separately but not sure on FDA rules since I'm in Scotland.

I'm 34 and going bald but with a better 5 o'clock shadow than the hubby thanks to PCoS. It's a Scottish thing but YOU are gonna be amazing so rock on and wiggle!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
