I miss carbonated drinks

Recommended Posts

How do I do away with the craving for a soda; I was addicted prior to my procedure and at this point I was told that for my entire life that I would never be able to drink not even shelter Water.

People seem to handle carbonation differently. Generally it seems most can't have it. The carbonation just doesn't sit well in our smaller stomachs. For others though they can drink some in moderation. I was a Diet Dew nut prior to surgery. Do I miss it a bit? Sure. But I also know I was drinking too much and it wasn't good for me whether it was diet or not. I honestly thing kicking soda is a big reason why I've felt so much better post-op.

We all have our own things we struggle with, but this is part of the problem with not facing addictions before the surgery. Getting a sleeve doesn't fix those cravings. For me I've been too preoccupied with everything else going on to miss sodas that much. I have a wide enough drink selection to keep me satisfied. All I can suggest is to keep as much good variety of drinks in the house as possible.

2 years after gastric bypass and I can drink them (diet) in moderation. I guess it depends on the person.

I'm 1 year out and can drink as much carbonation as I want. We're all different.

I have noticed that some drinks like sugar free Monster has less carbonation than regular diet soft drinks. I can drink those better with less or no problems.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
