How much did you lose throughout entire pre op diet

Recommended Posts

You'll find that everyone has different diets.. preop and post op. So many variables between surgeons! And, each surgeon probably makes it different between patients based on individual BMIs.

It all has to do with your weight and BMI. I had to do 10 days but I started 4 days earlier and came myself 2 weeks on the pre-opposite. But that's why some have to be on it longer to have time for their liver to shrink

How much you lose doesn't matter, if you have the mental strength to stay focused and stick to the plan is HUGE! You are going to lose all the weight you want and keep it off if you can stick with the plan. If you measure success by the speed of lose, its harder for me to stick to the plan because then I tell myself I can cheat and still lose.

My pre-op was 4 days, modified liquid with a solid meal for dinner. I lost about 5 pounds from that but total I lost 30 pounds exactly in 5 months.

I lost 26 but keep in mind that not only is every person different but every surgeon has a different plan for pre op and post op diets. Mine was 2 weeks but I know some folks do 1 week and some only 3 days and each of them do the foods or liquids different. You will do just fine for YOU! Do what your dr days and you'll be successful!

I lost 99 pounds (from 397 to 298) during my six month insurance-required pre-op diet program. It was the best thing I did for myself. I redefined my relationship with food, prepared myself for the surgery and life post-op, and set myself up to be successful long term. I've lost almost 75 more since my September surgery. Only 40ish to go!

I am on day 7 of my pre-op diet and as of this morning, I've lost a total of 13 lbs. But I didn't even expect to lose anything. Every OTHER damn diet I've done has yielded me hardly any results, I actually found myself surprised.

Don't be discouraged. You are getting your body ready for surgery. Any weightloss on this part, is just an added perk.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
