I'm in day 4 post op and I'm exhausted. I called my doctor office to see if I should start taking my Vitamins but they said not until my post op Dr visit. My pain in my stomach has lessened, my gas has decreased, and I can drink more Protein, but is it normal for me to still be this exhausted? How long did it take you to gain your normal strength back?

Hi, I'm 10 days out and the first week I was exhausted, I believe it is normal. Then I had a couple days of insomnia and restlessness and now back on track and have some more energy. Hope this helps

When is your first post op? I'm surprised you have to wait, I thought mist started next day. I am taking, since surgery (10 days now) multi, D, Calcium and B plus the Zantac.

I was pretty exhausted for the firsts 2-3 weeks. Part of the problem was insomnia because Oxycodone had me wired and sleeping meds didn't help. Once I got off of Oxycodone things were better, but I was still pretty tired with sleep. I think being tired like you are now is completely normal. Feel better!

From what the doc says yes this is normal. I have also experienced some insomnia. No matter what time I go to bed I'm gonna be wide awake at 4:00. Didn't too much mind when I was Putney of work due to the surgery but I'm back at work now and I need my rest. Try to get as much rest as you can. I had my surgery on 1/4

It's Thursday. I'm going to call again tomorrow to ask if I can start taking them, bc simply getting dressed and driving to church this morning nearly took me out!

It's VERY normal to still be extremely tired only 4 days post-op. General anesthesia can cause prolonged feelings of exhaustion in many patients, for many reasons. If you never drink or take opioid pain killers, your response to anesthetics and all the pain meds used during your hospital stay and whatever you're taking at home can all combine to make you very sluggish.
I was about 10 days post-op before I felt mostly normal, and about a month out before I was back to sleeping normally. We have small marks on the outside, but had a major surgical procedure...take it easy on yourself :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
