Mornings are HARD! Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

I am 5 days post op and having a really hard time. I'm having what feels like extreme heartburn usually happens about 10 seconds after I drink but sometimes happens when I move suddenly (like get up or bend down). Called the doctor Friday he put me on Levsin for spasms and Nexium for acid reflux (which I never chronically had before maybe 4x a year tops). And when I wake up first thing in the morning the nausea is so bad I gag like I'm going to throw up. I take nausea medicine and it goes away within 15-20 min. I'm wondering, did anyone else have all of this? How long did it take to go away? I can't imagine living like this the rest of my life. Please help!

I am about three weeks post op have to take prepaid for 6 months but I just had to get a refill on my nausea meds. I only have to take nausea meds in the morning generally after that I'm good so it could last a little while but I was told should go away soon. I still have tightness and burning sometimes when I drink so I'm going to ask my Dr about that, I'm already on the prepaid wouldn't think I should have that problem.

Thank you millerlillygirl. I'm so scared I've done something I shouldn't have. I have small children and I really need to get back on track. Let me know what your doctor says about the tightness, please? I'm going to call mine again tomorrow.

I took nausea medication for about two solid weeks after my surgery. I also had horrible pain in my chest after drinking the first few weeks. I had to take very tiny sips, slowly and experiment with different types of fluids. Plain Water made the pain worse.
It does get better after your stomach is healed.
Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
