Hey Fluffyinks we are band-day sisters. I am in soCal and will have mine placed at 8am. My doctor requires a 2 week diet of optifast-like Protein Powder. I actually have tons of ready-to-drink Optifast from trying that method last year near this time (more like January '07). Obviously I didn't have the wherewithall to complete that on my own but with the lapband I think optifast will be feasable for short term fasts after placement. I want to get this weight off as quickly as possible. I've done weight-watchers like forever and know the ropes backwards and forwards. My problem was being hungry alllll the time. This should be cured with the lapband. I will keep you posted as to how my preop is going and you do the same. Meet ya here tomorrow k? God bless you. Valerie

Hi Valerie,

I'm Jackie. I too have done many, many diets! Weight Watchers was my fav. I actually lost 30 last year on it, but of course, gained it all back plus some.

I live in Ks. Yes, the land of Dorthory! (I get that alot). :) My surgery is at 10 a.m. so really the same time as yours since we are 2 hours later than you. I certainly will be thinking on you then!

My pre-op starts Friday. We just do 10 days. I would love to meet you here tomorrow, but I will be on the road to Colorado to visit one of my daughters. Not sure how my lap top time will be, but I will check periodically so do write and I will respond.

It's great to meet other Oct. 15th bandsters.

Hugs

Hi Coo,

Yes, I am nervous too. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get. Not so much for the surgery since I have had surgery before, but because of the life change ahead of me. food has been such a good friend of mine. I told my husband that it is almost like a death. Do you feel this way too?

I also tell myself that I should have been able to do this myself, but obviously I can't. At times I feel like such a failure.

The other thing I am worried about is that I am a stress eater. Now what will I do when I am stressed??? :)

Good talking to you.

Oh, was this YOU saying this - I sounds like ME saying this - this is exactly how I feel.

And I'm now stressed and anxious about having my "crutch" gone - what do I do then?

I am still awaiting my pre-op instructions.....thought they would have been here by now.

Hi Coo,

I start my pre-op diet on Friday. I am kind of nervous about it....can I really do it??? I am so weak sometimes when it comes to food. Let me know when you start your pre-op and maybe we can talk each other through this. Hugs

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
