crivera 13 Posted February 19, 2017 Hi everyone. I was sleeved on 1/31/17. I am not entering solid Proteins. However super nervous to stretch my stomach. I can't keep much down anyway with bad heartburn and feeling sick. I know the stomach is a muscle so it's made to stretch but how easily can one stretch their stomach after a sleeve gastrectomy. Super nervous. I always want a small skinny stomach lol. TERRIFIED to stretch my stomach LOL. I'm hoping it takes a lot to really stretch from the size made after the sleeve. Please advice !!! Thank you everyone!
sleevinpops 303 Posted February 19, 2017 The stomach does not stretch. Check out this website (some great presentations on vsg'rs) it has one presentation specific to this question and presented by the surgeon.http://drmatthewweiner.com/how-to-prevent-your-stomach-from-stretching-after-weight-loss-surgery/

Greensleevie 451 Posted February 19, 2017 It's normal and completely natural for us to be able to eat more as the sleeve heals and the swelling goes down. It has absolutely nothing to do with stretching. At 3 year out, I can now eat a cup of food depending on what it is, and my surgeon says that's completely normal. Because capacity increases with time, over reliance on the tool itself is not recommended. A complete change of habits is. That will be what gets you to goal and keeps you there, not how much you can eat. I suggest you watch Dr Matthew Weiners videos on YouTube about WLS myths. Stretching is one he talks about. 1 sleevinpops reacted to this
