2 weeks no weight loss. GAINED.

Recommended Posts

So I mentioned last week that I was not losing weight. Well nothings changed. In fact I've gained 2 pounds! I'm getting very discouraged. I'm eating perfectly. Literally just Protein, veggies, and fruit. Getting in all my Water and Vitamins. Walking a mile a day, and still nothing! I'm so confused and I'm starting to feel like this surgery was for nothing.

Try walking an extra mile. See if that helps[emoji2]

It's normal to have a stall, but you may need to change your diet some to get your body back to losing. I had to up my calories and carbs. Talk to your dietician and see what suggestions they have.

I am three and a half months out from surgery and as of today I've lost 42lbs. I went through mist of December either not losing or fluctuating between staying the same and gaining 2lbs. I have since started losing again. I have found that every once in awhile the weight loss stalls for a bit. If you are eating enough Protein, drinking your Water and getting exercise you will start to lose again. Give yourself a break and be a little patient. Look at how well you've done so far.

I had the same.problem, and i figured out how to defeat this.... you need to move more. 1 mile will not cut it, especially if your food intake is different. It might not seem alot to you but what kind of calories are u eating vs exercising? I can't fit alot in my stomache but if I'm eating high calorie foods, i need to walk more than I usually would. It takes practice.. you will get there. What helped me? Get a fit bit. You can set goal on a monthly u want to lose each week. Mine is at 2 lbs... i input and look up calories for everything I stick in my mouth. The fit bit will tell you.. under budget? Time to eat.. if u go over budget after eating, its time to go for another mile walk... in zone means your right on target. Once I figured that out.. I dropped another two pounds.. I even had wine and ice cream.. but then I knew im not only doing 1 mile, im doing 2 or more. Get out there and enjoy this nice weather.

I had a 4 week stall gain in my 5th month that I could attribute first week to vacation but the rest of it made no sense. In the last 7 days I lost 8 lbs doing nothing. Well I did start eating more (I stopped counting carbs, Proteins, etc long ago) I had to stop going to the gym since I just had knee surgery as well. Our bodies do start figuring out what we are doing with it and adjust. Throw a wrench in your routine (change your Protein type, change your workout and use different muscles, add new veggies to your diet)

Is your digestive tract doing what it's suppose to do, or is it being slow? Your losing fat, but gaining muscle. Your body's going to do what it's going to do. Don't flip out, because it will just make you stress. Know you are doing the right things and wait it out. Your body just has to recalibrate.

I dropped then stalled then gained but don't I won't let that discourage me. Sometimes just a change up in your routine can make a difference. Look at what your eating. Do something different there. Are you exercising? If not start. If you are change what you're doing. Maybe just do cardio for a while.

I recently had a 2/3 week stall. My doctor said it's good and part of the process because you can end up in hospital if you consistently lose weight so rapidly. I was sleeved about 9/10 weeks ago. Don't worry you will start losing again! I was so concerned at first also. I even bought a Fitbit to help with exercise [emoji30][emoji23]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
