It will get significantly better each day. By day 4 I was not even taking any more pain meds. By day 10, feeling great. If you don't notice significant improvement with pain by day 4 or 5, you should reach out to your doctor. Also, if you have a fever, can't keep anything down, or are short of breath, you should reach out to your doctor. What pain meds were you sent home with?

He sent me home with a written prescription for oxycodone but we couldn't fill it because my insurance didn't cover it so I ended up taking Tylenol with codine that didn't work.i have a high pain tolerance so it's hard to find meds that help me with pain.this is unbearable.

If those are gas pains, you need to walk walk and then walk some more. Everybody says it but it's important. You can use gasex strips. They help.

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I forgot about the gas x strips thank you for reminding me!

Days 1 and 2 post-op were horrible for me. But, by Day 3, I started to rebound. Part of that was getting back into the world and walking outside rather than up and down the halls of my building. By my one-week post-op appointment with the surgeon's team, I was in pretty decent shape. Fatigue was an issue for 2 months, though.

The bottom line is that it will get better. Hang in there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
