Bodhi Tree 54 Posted February 16, 2017 I am a huge Fluid drinker during the day. I'm curious as to how thirsty a person would get post op? I mean, if we're only able to sip small amounts during the day, does that mean you're perpetually thirsty? 1 Apple1 reacted to this
blizair09 3,250 Posted February 16, 2017 I drank a lot of Fluid (mostly diet coke) pre-op, and it wasn't that bad of a transition post-op, for me. Also, the sipping phase for me was short-lived. I was able to drink semi-normally within the first 2 weeks. Good luck! Cool screen name by the way... 3 hopekate, Apple1 and Bodhi Tree reacted to this
ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted February 16, 2017 Love your screen name I am pretty thirsty often...more than I ever was pre-op, and I blame it on not being able to slam a 16 oz. glass of Water at will like I used to. I've learned to ALWAYS have a water bottle with me and to drink/refill/drink as much as possible. 2 Bodhi Tree and Apple1 reacted to this
orionburn 1,024 Posted February 17, 2017 I too was a huge drinker. Wasn't uncommon for me to drink at least a 2 liter of Crystal Light, a 44 oz diet pop, and at least 2-3 cups of coffee during the day. And that wasn't including what I would drink at home in the evening. I'm just over 3 weeks post op and find myself drinking regularly now. While I can't pound down the drinks like I used to I'm well past sips. I've only been up for a few hours but will have 32 oz of fluids in within the next hour. I do expect my drinking to slow once I'm back to regular foods. In the pureed stage I've stuck to foods that seems to pass through the stomach without much fuss so I can resume drinking after eating without much fuss. I'll say this was one of my bigger concerns prior to surgery just because of how much I would drink during the day. I thought for sure I would be much more difficult for me but have been pleasantly surprised. The only times I've truly felt thirsty is first thing in the morning. Never was an issue before but post-op I've found myself wanting to have something to drink as soon as I'm up. 4 Diana Prince, Apple1, Bodhi Tree and 1 other reacted to this

Apple1 2,572 Posted March 26, 2017 This has also been a concern of mine. I am the type of person that always has a Water bottle with me. I keep one on my night stand and drink during the night also. I think my greatest challenge is going to be learning to sip. 1 Diana Prince reacted to this
