Did everyone have a goal set by your doctor for you to reach?? I keep seeing people mention that their surgeon has a number that they want them to reach by so and so date. My surgeon did not set a goal for me. He just asked me where I wanted to go and said that would be good and even said that might be too much (200). What has been everyone else's experience?

When I was at my last appointment I expressed how I thought I should have done better so far since I started so high (at that point I had lost 150 since surgery) They looked at me like I was crazy and said., "I'm going to pretend you didn't actually ask me that! You are doing amazing!"

I still feel like I should be doing better though.

My surgeon said nice the same....when he broke it down he said it was great progress....

That being said, my group does not set goals. He did tell me what he thinks I might lose by next visit and after his first impression in 3 months we're right I do not doubt him. I have a 20 pound window I'll be happy with. I'm almost halfway there

@sherri~ Thats good! It's hard because I feel like I should have lost more by now. I know I have lost a lot though! I'm just greedy I guess. ;)

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one to not have a specific goal.

My surgeon considers the operation a success if you lose 66% of your excess weight. I hit that month 4.

My goal is 10 pounds below normal BMI. I'm 16 pounds away from that now. I figured I wanted to go low enough that if I bounce back with a bit of regain, I'll still be normal weight.

I almost wish my surgeon set a goal for me. I think they like to let you figure it out for yourself. But when i asked him at my 3 month post op visit he said another 30 to 40lbs and I'd be perfect and i was doing great. When i talked to my NUT she was on the same train as him. When i said i was thinking about 20 to 30lbs less than that her face scrunched lol. She said it was too low, but im 5'2.

When he gave me that "goal" i was at 205lbs. Now im 13lbs from the low end and 23lbs from the high end of that "goal". It's crazy but i want to get to 175lbs by my next appointment in April. That's 13lbs i hope i can do it.

My surgeon and nutritionist are both super against setting a goal, especially my NUT. She thinks that it puts unwanted pressure and too much focus on a number; she also says not to weigh myself but...well....................who can help it ???? I understand her feelings, though. So much focus on the number can make you miss out on the other victories:

the vanishing of the knee dimple, being able to walk for 3 miles while everyone around you wears out earlier, being able to sit on an airplane, buying that bikini....

My doctor did not set a goal weight, but I want to be 200 pounds. Im 5'9 and I know it should be a lower weight, but that's just what I see in my head. I jest had my sleeve on the 15th so, we'll see

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
