Banders-show me your typical daily meal....

Recommended Posts

I've got all my pre-op appts. set for October and as the time draws near keep thinking about what I will be eating.

Can you please show me what your typical day of eating looks like including amounts. I'd really appreciate it!

Marieze

When you are first banded you don't really need to worry about how much you are eating. Initially you are not going to be ABLE to eat much because of swelling and discomfort directly after surgery. You won't really feel like it. Concentrate on getting good Protein amounts. While you are on liquids, just take it whenever you can, all day long, to keep up your energy, prevent nausea and dizziness. That being said, don't guzzle 10 chocolate shakes in a day...I mean, moderation has its place. You'll start getting your appetite back about week 2 or so (sometimes earlier for some people). Once again, you are in the healing phase, so don't sweat it and be disappointed if the pounds aren't dropping off. Your band won't start working for you until probably after your first, second or possibly 3rd fill, so do NOT get discouraged.

I was banded April 2, 2007... now 6 months later, and 4 fills, lost 70#....

Breakfast... was 1/2 Atkins pre-mixed shake in a can.

Lunch........ was Mexican shrimp cocktail (soup of Tomato base avocado pieces, white onion fine chopped, spices/herbs, and shrimp/cut in three pieces each) maybe about 1/2 cup??

Dinner........ was "Steak and Shake's" veggie/beef soup-1/2 cup?...(very little beef, it was too dry) and a tiny burger patty-no bun-with mustard relish on it.

And now it is around 9:15 pm. and I am still quite full! I should have eaten only the Soup for dinner.... I got the patty of burger for added protein....it was fried --I should have skipped it and I would have been fine. Good luck on your journey.

D - small hamburger patty, a few tortilla chips with salsa

Check out the food board. There are a few long-running threads covering this same topic. Lots of good ideas!

Yesterday here's what I had:

B: Yoplait vanilla Yogurt

L: Vegetarian Vegetable Soup (1 can, no Water added) and 3 crackers

D: Boca Burger patty with ketchup, mustard, and relish

S: Jello pudding and couple of chips with queso (I couldn't resist!)

Also, between 70 and 80 ounces of water/tea and 2 Flintstones daily.

Some of what you can eat will determine what/when your restriction is. I am *very* tight in the mornings and pretty loose about 4, getting tighter again by bedtime, so lunch and an early dinner are when I try to pack in my nutrients.

OK..... here's today.... I am at my sweet spot.

early am: coffee w/sf Creamer

8:30 am: Weight control oatmeal w/milk

12:00p: 5 bites of moist meatloaf w/ketchup

sn: MAYBE, I am still stuffed.... but I brought in some Sweet Freedom Yogurt

D: around 5:p: slow cooked pork steak in ragu roasted garlic alfredo sauce with extra garlic and onions...... (cooking at home right now) the pork will be so tender it will melt in my mouth... I really hope that I can eat it....

I've been really trying to focus on Protein and Water... because my hair and fingernails are showing that I've been slacking.

i am 2 weeks post op today and for the first week i lived on Isopure (from GNC), broth from chicken noodle Soup (NO NOODLES!) and sugar free Jello. It was like clockwork when I hit 1 week -- I WAS HUNGRY!! i started Protein with Water and blended ice, continued Isopure and SF jello as well as soup broth. After about 4 or 5 days, I attempted tuna, it hurt but it was good. now, 2 week exact and im having mashed potato along with everything else i mentioned.

what i will start next, i dont know.

I want to preface this by saying that I am 4.5months post op; I have had 2 fills, but I do not have any restriction. Despite this fact, I am eating healthy sticking to 1000-1500 calories per day and losing an average of 2-2.5lbs per week. Oh, and I exercise 9hours per week (6days). Most on this board will say I am eating too many calories and too much food, but my body doesn't lose unless I take in at least 1,000-1200 calories. I figure I should take advantage of this time when I can eat a variety of food in mostly normal portions and still lose weight. So here it goes:

B: 1/2c oatmeal, 1 boiled egg, 2-3 strawberries

s: Lunchable's Lil Lunchable Turkey (for 4 year olds-140calories) 1 activia light yogurt

L: 2 celery stalks and 1 tsp Peanut Butter, 15-20 grapes, 1 cheddar cheese stick (60 cal)

s: 1 oz peanuts and 15 grapes

D: 1/2 cup rice with veggies, 3-4 oz chicken, 1cup spinach salad.< /p>

s: 1 cup sugar free hot chocolate or 1 sugar free fudge cicle and my Calcium chew.

See I told you I can eat a lot.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
