pdallariva 57 Posted February 15, 2017 Has anyone else had this problem? I have been in the hospital since Monday now. I keep asking what's going on and everyone keeps passing the buck. Does this problem go away quickly as they say it will or will surgery eventually occur? Any help with this would be great.
Jill_Me 100 Posted February 15, 2017 I haven't had it, but small bowel ileus is common after surgery. It should go away with conservative treatment like fluids, bowel rest. If it doesn't then the surgery team will see about the need for surgery. I'm sorry that I don't know anything about epigloic appendigitis. I am a nurse and had to look that one up. If you really want to know what's going on an don't feel that anyone is telling you, ask for the nurse manager and tell him or her. They may be able to send an advocate to help explain things if the medical team isn't doing it (like they should). You deserve to understand what's happening. I hope your pain is under control and that you're doing better really soon!
