Girly from Scotland

Hi there folks

I live in Aberdeen Scotland. I'm having my lapband fitted on Nov 19 in Prague. I'm so excited about my future becoming slim, but I have all these fears that I'm going to be the only one it doesn't work on and I've been reading all these things on the net about it not working on people and "fill issues" on the band.

Does anyone have any good encouraging words for me, I really need it. Never met anyone or known anyone "apart from Sharon Ozborne" who's had it done.

Hi Lynsay!

I live in Aberdeen also!

But in Washington State in the United States!

Welcome!

All of us are lifetime failures at dieting and keeping off weight. That reality makes us question whether or not the Lap-Band will work for us, when we have failed so many times before. The Lap-Band is DIFFERENT, because it puts a physical LIMIT on how much we can hurt ourselves. Also, anyone who isn't nervous about having MAJOR SURGERY is very unusual.

The one branch of my family that I traced back, over 150 years, came from England, but I know from oral family history that some of my ancestry is Finn.

Just as your Aberdeen means a confluence of rivers, our town was named for that.

Situated on Grays Harbor, we have 7 rivers within a short distance, but the ones the founders were interested in were the Wishkah, the Chehalis and the Hoquiam rivers.

Known as "The birthplace of grunge", Aberdeen has a number of well-known natives, notably Kurt Cobain and Chris Novoselic of the group "Nirvana".

Originally a logging town, Aberdeen now has a diverse economic base, with logging still playing a major part in the economy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
