Dennis Robins 19 Posted February 15, 2017 I wish I knew more about all the surgery philosophies and techniques. Some get drains, some stay in the hospital, others don't get drains, I was only there for a few hours, some in clears for weeks, other on full liquids right away. The process seems so different for everyone. And, from what I can tell it varies by the surgeon more than patient. I'm usually such a researcher on all things medical, but I didn't want to talk myself out of it so I didn't read any medical journals for this journey. Anyone have resources on this? changesin2017 10 Posted February 15, 2017 I so agree with you...I even have differences with my surgeon and the staff at the bariatric center. I had surgery January 19th. Center gave out a book outlining diet plans and restrictions for about 6 weeks out, 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks puree, 2 weeks soft, etc. On my 1 week check up with the surgeon he said, liquids 10 days, soft foods for a week then start gradually adding in other food as you feel comfortable. I spent one night in hospital and did come home with a drain for a week. I am also a researcher and read up on everything I could find before surgery and my journey so far has been completely different. I have had no nausea, no problems getting in Fluid, energy level has been great, weight loss a little slower than I hoped but I've been told not to worry. I am going to keep following the guidelines set by my doctor and keep fingers crossed the weight starts and keeps falling off!
