hesterc 5 Posted February 15, 2017 Can your primary care Dr. satisfy this requirement or do I need to join weight loss clinic or something like that
sarcruze 24 Posted February 15, 2017 It all depends on the Bariatric program you are with. I was referred by my primary care physician to my surgeon and I have to do a supervised diet at his Bariatric clinic. I see my bariatrican every month for weigh ins and see the nutritionist there as well. Check with whatever clinic and surgeon u will have your gastric sleeve procedure done by. Poku 14 Posted February 15, 2017 I started seeing my PCP for the diet on 2/6 and can see either her or my surgeon once a month to be weighed in. I was told I can see either one, so long as I don't miss a month, because then the 6 month period would have to start over! Next Thursday I find out how much the surgeon wants me to lose during this time, I'm 293 right now and qualify for surgery all the way down to 233.
GinaRogers 10 Posted February 15, 2017 My Primary referred me to a Bariatric Surgeon and I had to go through 6 months of managed weight loss. The Surgeons clinic is an hour from where I live. Once a week I had to go to education classes and weigh ins. I also had to complete 6 guided exercise classes in the 6 months and meet with the dietician once a month and if you miss any of it even just once you have to start the 6 months all over. SLIMPICKENS55 41 Posted February 15, 2017 My primary doctor recommended me to a nutrition is at the hospital. I was told by a person at my support group that they went through their doctor and when it came time to be approved they would not approve it because they did not go through a nutritionistSent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Poku 14 Posted February 16, 2017 I only have to see a nutritionalist once, but I'm sure it varies by insurance!
