Milk of Mag. Instruction state dose every 6 hours until you're cleared and then do the Miralax every day. Has worked like a charm for me! Do not, I repeat, do not try to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by mixing the Miralax with any type of Protein. I will set in your stomach like cement. I did that to day and it took me 4 hours to get in 11 oz of a Protein shake and my Water intake is really low. No room for it. Called the doctor and nurse told me to just drink Clear liquids until this full feeling goes away and skip the Miralax tomorrow. WOW not a good time at all. Hope this helps you and good luck with the POO!!!

Fleet Enama, sorry to say and make sure it's mineral oil. I have had a terrible time. I do a dulcolax at night and a colace in the morning.

I had the same issue, I was taking miralax everyday but it did not work for me. I even tried drinking some diluted prune juice, which did give me the urge to go BUT i still couldn't. The only thing that helped was going off of the pain medication. About 2 days after taking no pain medication I was able to go to the bathroom again and can go regularly now

I'm 6 weeks out and experiencing Constipation too. I do take 2 doclace and it seems to help milk mag doesn't work for me.

My doctor says It's common because we aren't getting fruits and veggies In. I started refrained Beans but don't like them. Chili is good but I still take doclace (sp) daily sometimes two.

@brianajubert I know it probably sounds nasty but it's an old remedy, it worked for me after a couple shots, which was Castor Oil, Lemon juice and Honey.... I made the concoction in a shot glass, had about 2 or 3, works wonders!!!!

Believe it or not, I bought a laxative tea and it worked like a charm. I didn't think it would, but I was in so much pain, I would have taken anything. My husband made me a huge mug of it and I sipped it before going to bed. By 6am, it took full effect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
