Thick2slim83 26 Posted February 14, 2017 Any advice on non-supporting family members? I plan on have the surgery, and I'm meeting with a surgeon next week. Only thing is my mom and sister are not supportive at all. My mom is a nurse and she keeps trying to scare my about surgeries gone wrong and my sister says go to the gym. Any type of support will be helpful. 1 SleeveDreams reacted to this
kell911 62 Posted February 14, 2017 Go with your heart. What do you want. This surgery is a tool to help get you to where you want to be. Surgery is serious but I do say but there are many great surgeons out there. Do your research and do what you got to do!
SleeveDreams 29 Posted February 14, 2017 I am going through the same thing... my family doesn't know that I'm going to have the gastric sleeve because they are very judgmental so I am going through this journey alone. I have a few friends that had the procedure done so they are the only ones that know about it. I'd say, continue to get support from the ppl here or create a YouTube page about your journey....you'd be surprised of how much support you'll get from others!Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App 1 kell911 reacted to this
Thick2slim83 26 Posted February 14, 2017 Thank you both. I do have one person at work who had the surgery and she is very encouraging. 1 SleeveDreams reacted to this
