swat9254 4 Posted February 15, 2017 Just walking, lots of walking! Your doctor will tell you when you're allowed to do more. I was allowed about three weeks out.Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
CocoNina 210 Posted February 18, 2017 Walk as much as you can, don't lift anything more than 20 lbs. That's what my doctor tells me.Height 5'0"Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.Surgery date: 2/13/17Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). My profile picture is not me. It's my "FitSpiration" body.
Lema 236 Posted February 18, 2017 When I was at that point, I was told to walk. I did but not as much as I should have. Now that I look back, with very little effort, I could have lost a lot more than what I lost. As time passes by, the weight loss process slows down and you have to work harder to lose. If I was smart enough, I would have walked whole lot more.
sleevinpops 303 Posted February 18, 2017 Walk, walk walk, then walk some more. It is the best thing following surgery. If you have a Fitbit, join a group of other vsg'rs to do step challenges. ( I have a weekend challenge going on now) If you don't have one, consider getting one. It will really help you keep focused on your walking. Some even have excercize so on them to keep you motivated (Blaze Fitbit)Your doctor will tell you when it is safe to resume exercise, ( I can't wait as I'm just over a week since surgery, but feeling great!)If you have a Fitbit and want to friend me I'm at vban@charter.net, good luck and speedy recovery! Cher-real 6 Posted February 19, 2017 I was walking 1-3 miles right out of the hospital. I think it helped in many ways. My hospital gave me a free 3 months membership to their great gym. I met with a trainer and we are progressing based on my limitations (not due to GS surgery) added elliptical and other strength and balance exercises
