Ridiculous question but...

Recommended Posts

I forgot to ask during my pre-op appointment and my surgery is next Wednesday. I'm Catholic, and I'll be attending services the Sunday following services. I'll still be on a full liquid diet, also I can't receive the host, but what about after? It's not even something I thought about until my dad asked..

Anyone have any experience with this? LOL It feels like a silly question but I'm still curious.

Believe it or not, My fitness pal has a communion wafer as 1 calorie, 1 sugar and 1 carb. Who knew????? lol I would just wait a couple of months. I've had communion wafers disolve in my mouth, to ones that were maybe stale and potentially had not so soft edges going down. If you chew, you could take it earlier just chew. I'm sure you can decide knowing your own church host.

You should wait until those foods are on your approved list. Which will be after you are on full foods I think. I'm sure God will understand. :)

I just didn't receive the sacrament. But to be fair, I work at the church, so both priests knew. (This was after surgery.). They usually would give me a blessing after mass when I'd be back in the sacristy. If you want they will anoint you prior to your surgery.

Haha no I'm not concerned about the religious aspect too much (my father might have a coronary though [emoji23][emoji849]). It was just something I never thought about and was curious. Thanks for your answers! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
