beabetteru 13 Posted February 13, 2017 Hi everyone! Just curious on how soon after surgery were some of you able to begin driving again ? I'm currently at stay at home mom but I do a lot of driving on a day to day basis. Having my surgery in 1 week. ">
kokofamfour 42 Posted February 13, 2017 I was told I would be cleared at post op appt. However- I am 5 days post op and haven't taken pain meds in 2 days. I am up and moving fine- other than constraints of the drain. I am picking my son up from school today 2 GrrlAnn and beabetteru reacted to this
jeichman 20 Posted February 13, 2017 I was asked to hold off for seven days. Didn't have an issue driving once I started. 1 beabetteru reacted to this
orionburn 1,024 Posted February 13, 2017 I had a prolonged hospital stay because of some complications, but I drove myself about 1 week after surgery. The main reason they didn't want me driving was if I was taking my pain meds. Physically it didn't bother me getting in/out of my van at all. The biggest thing is simply wearing down quickly and the lack of energy. I was stir crazy and wanted to get out of the house but found that I couldn't go out for very long without running out of steam. 2 beabetteru and GrrlAnn reacted to this
fjsfls1202 35 Posted February 13, 2017 My doctor said as soon as I stop taking the pain killers which was quick because I only took them for two days. You'll know when you feel up to it. 2 beabetteru and GrrlAnn reacted to this

gryffen 176 Posted February 14, 2017 Once you can do an emergency break without pain here. Insurance can be void if your drive under influence of meds etc and against medical advice.
Abs02 17 Posted February 16, 2017 I was told I would be cleared at my 10 day appointment. I live alone and I refuse to ask someone to leave work to drive me to that appt (I'm way too independent and stubborn). If I feel okay and am off pain meds I may be a rebel and drive before cleared. 10 days seems crazy, especially when everyone else pretty much has the "after pain meds" rule. sleevinpops 303 Posted February 16, 2017 I was cleared after: no meds for 24 hours & good range of motion without twisting. You will feel it trying to back up!
