Waiting for approval is driving me bonkers

Recommended Posts

I have completed all the steps and have lost 55lbs and I am just waiting for approval from my surgeon. I know they schedule the surgeries about a month out and there are only two days left for March. I am trying to be patient but IM SO READY! Okay...just needed to vent a little.

I thought I would be having surgery in jan. I finally got my surgery date today and it's March 16th. Way farther out than I hoped but I was going crazy waiting day by day! I kept calling the clinic everyday, I bet she finally worked on my case just to get me off her back! Lol I tried not to be annoying! Now, to get through a whole more month!

Like the person above me said, I was expecting a November surgery date and FINALLY got a date for march 1st. This whole process varies so much and every program is different.

That being said, a lot of the delay was because of my old case worker, since having a new one things have gone pretty quickly.

It'll happen! Beg them lol.

I emailed my surgeon on Friday and dropped by yesterday. The surgeon emailed me yesterday to tell me I was approved and I just have to wait for a date. I will be calling the coordinator tomorrow to check in.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
