Krisbell 26 Posted February 13, 2017 Hi guys, I was just wondering what I should expect with nutrition classes. I have mine on 2/28 at Brookwood Hospital in Al. I know all places are different, but it would make me feel better to kind of have an idea of what to expect. They gave me a book about the surgery and some topics they may touch on, and I've read the book 20 times front to back and I guess it's not making me feel better because I'd rather someone who has been through it talk to me. This is the last thing I have to do before they submit everything to my insurance. So, fingers crossed that I can get approved. The sooner I can have surgery, the better. Thank you guys, reading things here have made me feel so much better, i feel like i have a family in all of you, even if i don't say much, i sincerely thank you all and i think you are all amazing for everything you have done and accomplished. -Kris
orionburn 1,024 Posted February 13, 2017 It really is different for everyone. Most likely they're going to touch on what your diet requirements will be after surgery, which means the focus is on Protein before anything else. Meetings with my nutritionist were about the things to avoid, things you want to have, and those general types of things. For me it was more the mental prep of how things were going to be after surgery. They gave me sample menus for a day and some different recipes for the various stages (full liquids, pureed stage, etc). Good luck on your journey! 1 evy17 reacted to this
DaleCruse 756 Posted February 13, 2017 So much of this process isn't just getting physically prepared, it's getting mentally prepared. Consider your nutrition class part of getting you mentally prepared. Listen carefully, take notes, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Good luck!
