No gum allowed on my program.

Some people choose to chew it after they heal. As always, it is best to follow your surgeon's protocol on this.

Dr.s usually don't like it because if it were to be swallowed by accident, could result in a blockage.

Also, the act of chewing gets the stomach ready to receive food.... creating acid, hunger, etc.

Personally I don't chew much now, so won't miss it.

I would stay away from gum after surgery. When you chew gum you swallow air which will bloat you. The gas pains are bad after surgery and adding bloating from chewing gum is not needed. I am 5 years post op and still get bloating from chewing gum.

I have 3 flavors in my purse and 2 more in my desk. I can't give everything up!
