@bones_girl206 .... me too! Everything went very smoothly. Everyone was so nice too. I was up walking yesterday as well. Had a rough night with the pain but they switched my meds up and things got a lot better. Had my EGD this AM. Tolerating small amounts of liquids ok. So I'm ready to go home!

Hey ladies! Just checking in on my fellow 3/29 sleevers! Post-op was rough for me...PAIN!!! But once they adjusted my meds, I got a lot better. I even walked the halls a couple of times. Still haven't had anything by mouth though. I have a EGD this AM. Hopefully after that, I can start sipping and be discharged home.

I just got home. My pain was and is terrible too. Just getting up and down, coughing, etc. I don't have gas pain at all actually just bad pain on my left side (I guess that's where he took it out). It's getting better though because yesterday when I got in and out of bed I was crying. And I have a high pain tolerance. What meds did they have you on? I was on IV Dilaudid there and then now I'm Norco oral. Phenegran for nausea. My nausea has been pretty bad, as expected.

Sounds like we had very similar experiences! My pain was and still a 8/10+. I was originally on morphine but that wasn't helping my pain AT ALL! So they changed me to dilaudid. I got discharged on liquid norco (which is nasty & tastes like NyQuil). I didn't have any nausea until I got home. Having to sip liquids every 15 minutes makes me sick and my tummy cramp. Gotta push through it because I don't want to be re-admitted to the hospital for dehydration.

Girl sounds like we're literally twinning here, haha. My pain is still at about a 5/6 when I get up and move but I'm not in tears now when I move so I'm getting better. Have you weighed yourself yet? I've lost ten points already; thinking that's the stomach he removed lol. I hope you're starting to feel better. We're about to go to the store so that we can walk some more. You're in my thoughts!

@courtneyd my pain is better but I still need meds about every 4 hours. Sipping hurts a bit but the discomfort is tolerable. Room temperature Water and Premier Protein is what I am tolerating the best. Had a sugar free popsicle a little while ago. Tasted amazing but caused some spasms in the tummy. I still weigh the same but I lost 13 pounds in 1 week!! Enjoy your walk and know that you're in my thoughts as well. #weightlosttwins

I had my surgery on 3-29 @10:30 am. Was able to get outta bed myself immediately once I was in my room cause I had to pee so bad. The nurses couldn't believe when I didn't need help and wasn't in pain. I was so hot, tho! I had them turn the air down to 65 degrees. On Wednesday, my pain was mostly internal. It felt like bad period cramps where my stomach is. My incisions do not hurt at all. I was given morphine every couple of hours but it did not help. I slept most of Wednesday away and got up to walk at 10pm that night. I was able to suck on ice chips all day Wednesday. My mouth was so damn dry. Thursday, I still had cramping and what felt like a bad hunger pain@. But I did not feel hungry. That morning I had my sleeve leak test. I was so surprised when they told me to take 2 big gulps at a time of the horrible medicine which tasted like a lemon house cleaner. Most disgusting taste ever. I had to gulp down more then half a Styrofoam cup and my stomach did not have pain. Couldn't believe it! After thatn I went back to my room and was given Water and tiny cups to sip from. They also brought me broth, Sf Popsicles, and Sf lemonade. At first, I was able to sip the water down with no complications but after 2 of the tiny cups my stomach started to cramp. I also was able to sucks on a Sf popsicle but started cramping shortly afterward. I wonder if that is my new full feeling. Later in the afternoon, I began to have diarrhea and still have it. I have also needed to go pee many times throught the day since surgery. Thursday night I was given a lil concoction of tylenol and hydrocodone which takes my pain away and knocks me out but is so disgusting. I was able to go home around 230pm on Friday. I still have cramping when I drink or suck on a popsicle. I have not tried broth yet. I was given a 30day supply of heparin that I have to inject in my belly twice a day. Also, they lowered my blood pressure meds to just lisinopril. Also got pantoprazole which helps reduce acid and the concoction of Tylenol and hydrocodone. I came home and went straight to bed since I was given pain meds before I left and woke up feeling sore on my lower tummy and cramping. I got up to walk around my house a bit and drank a few 30ml cups and ate a popsicle. Now I am about to take a shower and take my pain meds so I can sleep. I hope everyone who just had surgery is doing okay. I weighed myself on the hospital scale and it showed that I lost 4lbs. My home scale is another story. Says I still weigh the same as I did surgery morning. Grrrr! Lol

Did they say why they're making you do Heparin injections? They gave me one in the hospital but didn't send me home with any..

I have to take my Norco every 4 hours as well. My pain is a little better today but I'm pretty upset that my pain is so bad and most people aren't having pain at all. I just don't know wth is going on! This heartburn came out of nowhere, I was thinking maybe I dodged that but now, definitely not. My pain level is at like a 4 today. I wish I could fast forward into next week where hopefully I wont have pain. I haven't tried any Premier Protein yet and I'm starting to worry that I'm not getting enough good stuff in. I did drink some 1% milk and lots of Water, 2 popsicles.. couldn't really handle broth. Hope you're starting to feel better!

@courtneyd try mylanta gas minis. They are chewable and helps tremendously with the gas pains. I don't think I'm getting enough liquids in either but I think that's expected the first few days. I use a plastic medicine cup (1 oz) and sip liquids every 15 minutes which is 4 ounces per hour. That is what the nurse had me do in the hospital and I'm doing that as a guideline to keep hydrated. Keep up the good work dear!

Mine was the 20th and feeling great. After you get thru the gas pains, there will be no stopping you!!! I'm down 35lbs and can walk with NO knee pain!!!!

Mine was also the 20th and feeling great! My incisions are a little sore but that's about it. I'm down 25 pounds. So glad I did it!

Sleeved on 3/29. Still in the hospital should discharge today. The only thing I can tolerate is herbal unsweetened tea. I had crazy nausea with narcs so I can only take Tylenol now for pain.

I walk a lot and it helps but the trapped gas is the worst.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
