Fraternities and Sororities

Recommended Posts

Honestly, my only experiences with frats and sororities were with my brother joining one and myself having to attempt to teach members general biology for the last 5 semesters. I haven't been too impressed, to say the least.

I was asked to be in 2 of them when I moved to a new high school (many years ago, lol) But I was brought up an army brat and there was no thinking you are better than anyone else in the military world so I wanted no part of it.

I am a sorority member. It's pretty cool b/c there are graduate chapters and we do lots of volunteer work and still party (like grown ups not undergrads) ;)

Green still doesn't play well with others and she avoids going to reunions, weddings, and baby showers. She also does not do pot lucks! She, however, will meet you in a bar, cafe, or restaurant.

I was in Mu Phi Epsilon, a sorority for music majors. I loved it, but then again it was not your typical sorority (i.e. no sorority house, no wild parties :-p). I think sororities and fraternities are great! It's a really good opportunity to do work in the community, to meet new people, establish career connections, plus you get a lot of cool t-shirts, lol!

I came very close to joining Sigma Tau Delta, a sorority for English majors who met a host of other requirements.

In a way I'm very glad I didn't, and in a way, I wish I would have.

The glad I didn't actually covers "in many wayS."

Wish I would have only covers the missed networking later in life.

Wheetsin---I was a member of Sigma Tau Delta...(English Honor Society)...basically, I went to a couple of meetings and put it on my first 3 post collegiate resumes...

Never had a desire to do the S/F thing.... I'm not really a joiner.

I went to art school, we didn't have them. I can't say I feel deprived.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
