triplethreat 257 Posted February 12, 2017 Hello beautiful people! Like many sleevers I developed heartburn after surgery. I was taking OTC generics (same as Prilosec) which did a great job of controlling it, but because of my family history of neurological issues I asked my nut about other options; she suggested trying enteric peppermint oil. I've been taking it for a few days with promising results. It certainly doesn't last 24 hours but if I take it about 30 mins before I eat, it controls it. The one I take also has fennel in it and is marketed for people with IBS, which I don't have. Just wanted to throw that out for anyone seeking to conquer post op GERD.Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 3 LilEngine, lurker lora and Newme17 reacted to this
painter88 101 Posted February 12, 2017 I found that laying down right after eating is what causes it for me. Best is to remain vertical.Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App 2 ProudGrammy and MemphisWLS reacted to this

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal AppHaving GERD for years I've found that drinking Water with baking soda mixed really helps when heartburn gets bad and medicine takes too long to react. I have trouble especially at night, waking up with food and acid burning my throat and throwing up. The baking soda quickly helps to ease the burning and settle my stomach. Hope this helps!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal mobile app
