I was sleeved on 1/30/17. I feel like I have completely failed at this. I cannot get enough fluids in. I have advanced my diet too quickly. I have no problem eating small amounts of soft foods. Protein Shakes make me sick. If I see another cup of broth I'll be sick. I really regret the surgery so far.

My family ate out tonight and I ate 6 grilled shrimp. I know it's too soon for that. I had no problems with it. I felt like everyone was watching thinking how bad I was being. Lol

I'm a little over 6 weeks and still can't get my fluids anywhere near where they should be. My NUT want 64 oz minimum but I average 32-48

I'm am so tired of fake sugar it drives me crazy. My shakes turned into iced coffee and a couple scoops of the powder protien. I can mentally handle that much better. The thought of Soup, yogurt and milk makes me ill.

It's all about baby steps and one thing at a time from what I can tell so far.

I am 6 days post op and UP 4 pounds!!! WTH?!?! I have been told it's Fluid retention from the lactated ringers in my IV for almost 3 days straight. Still, it's hard not to think that I ruined my brand new tummy.
I having issues getting fluids in. 2 tablespoons at a time is all I can handle. And afterwards I am full for a long time. I was getting in diet cranberry juice, ckn/bf broths in at 2 tablespoons at a time. One sugar free Popsicle made me feel so full I couldn't put anything else in for almost 3 hours.

I was sleeved 1/17/17. I'm having regrets. I can relate to what everyone is saying on here. I can't get my liquids in, I feel like crap. My Vitamins are making me sick. I can finally eat a small amount of shredded food like turkey or cheese etc...

I have been to see nut and surgeon who wanted to rehospitalize me for dehydration. Told me to stop exercising for now and eat low calorie carbs. I'm probably only getting in 400 calories a day. I am drinking blended Protein powder and Trop 50 oj with ice as suggested by nut but I hate it.

I felt like once the initial healing period was over I'd have more energy etc... I'm worse now than ever. I'm losing weight very slowly.

I'm really trying to tell myself this is all temporary.

You say wanted to.... did you not go? It is soooo important to get a bag or two of Fluid when needed. This should be drilled into patients' heads...
After surgery you PROBABLY WILL need IV fluids a few times. This is not a failure! This is expected!

If you don't want to be admitted, find out if there is a place to go on an outpatient basis.

I don't know if you know this or not but if you're having trouble with your Vitamins you can get them in patch form. I don't use them but I here they work very well. As for the rest.... don't stress it'll all come together in due time. Before surgery I hardly ever drank Water. After surgery I still hardly drink Water and in doing fine. I was sleeved on 9/7/16 and I've lost 50lbs. Some might say that's slow but I'm fine with that.

I was told by my Dr. is VERY common to leave hospital weighing more that when you went in. Everyone is different, some people take a few weeks to get rid of the fluids. I advise stay away from the scale for as long as you can.

Hang in there.....from what I see here, MOST of us have a hard time getting in all the fluids. I was sleeved same day as you. If I get 50 oz in it's a good day! I will not drink until I get sick, not gonna do it. I think we are all different when it comes to this too....and it can't be "one size fits all" as far as liquids go. Do the best you can.

It is getting better for me regarding food/vitamins etc.....but it has been a really tough 5 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
