One month anniversary and I'm feeling great!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

So excited for my weight loss journey and thought it'd share it here. I'm 22 years old and had gastric sleeve surgery on January 11 of this year. Today marks my one month since surgery and it excites because I've lost 28 pounds successfully. I'm up to date with my Water intake, exercising (weights included), and my Protein.

Also, would like to share that I ate sushi and everything went well! Since, I went to the gym this morning and did a high intense work out. I felt like I needed to be fueled an hour after drinking my 35g of protein. Sushi suited very well for me and was able to eat 4 rolls (I was very hungry). I did not eat them all at once. I ate two right away and ate another two 30 minutes later.

I'm very excited to continue this journey and will keep everyone updated!! Thanks for reading,

Theresa

Congrats! It sounds like you are doing great!

Being only a month out, I just want to caution that your stomach is still healing. Any food that isn't on your list should be approved. Same with your gym activities. (I'm mentioning this for you, but also for others that read this thread in the future).

So nice to hear when things go so splendidly!

Congrats! I was 1/10 and 2/10 was 29 lbs. Today 30 lbs since December 16 th. Weird you mentioned Sushi, I have been craving and afraid because I'm afraid of stomach upset. I struggled with dehydration and bad fevers, chills, and the D. Trying to eat only cooked foods for a while :( Please enjoy some for me. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
