Put a call in and describe what you are experiencing. In general, when things get worse instead of better, you'll want to be checked out.

If you have insurance that would cover an ER visit, go ahead there. If you don't, then maybe find a clinic?

Call your surgeon's office during hours. Don't waste time and money going to someone who doesn't deal with this type of surgery.

Health problems can often crop up post surgery that do need emergency evaluation and intervention. Because the pain starts in her back and not just around the incision, and it is getting worse (after 18 days), it is worthwhile to play it safe. Kidney infections are no joke, in case that is what it is...

Snugelkin.. how are you feeling?

This is no way constitutes medical advice however I would tell you that if the pain is in your back it's very possible that without nausea and vomiting, fever or shaking chills the pain may be more related to your GU system instead of GI.

You can go to urgent care first and explain your symptoms - they would likely run a urinalysis which could rule in or out things like UTI or bladder infections or kidney stones. (Which given the sleeve and the decreased ability to take in fluids wouldn't be unheard of)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
