sleevedviolet 52 Posted February 11, 2017 Is it necessary to get all the Protein in to lose the weight is that why I'm in a stop because I can only get 30 to 40 grams of protein a day so I was just wondering would more protein intake help me with more weight loss is that a thingSent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
MrsPenguin 103 Posted February 11, 2017 I don't know the answer to that, but I'm not getting much Protein either. I do my best and select protein first, but at about 9 weeks post surgery, I'm still not eating much. I've pretty much lost the taste for smoothies and Protein Powder kind of grosses me out. A lot of days I don't even feel like eating, which is just so weird since that was all I wanted to do before the surgery. I think we just need to do our best on protein and wait until we are able to take in more. 1 sleevedviolet reacted to this

mylighthouse 782 Posted February 12, 2017 You all need to get in your Protein. It is very important and that is why during our pre-op class or classes they tell you do do so. Your doctor/nutritionist will want you to get in a minimum of 60 grams a day. And to answer your question @sleevedviolet yes getting in at least your required amount of Protein will help you lose weight. "The body needs additional protein during the period of rapid weight loss to maintain your muscle mass. Protein is also required for your metabolism to occur. If you don’t provide enough protein in your diet, the body will take its protein from your muscles and you can become frail." For those of you struggling with getting in your protein, if you are in the early stages of full liquids, pureed or even soft foods, you really do need to find a Protein shake that you like to get that protein. And also consider an unflavored Protein Powder such as powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury or Isopure that you can add to some foods or zero calorie drinks such as Decaf iced tea, Powerade Zero or Crystal Light. 1 sleevedviolet reacted to this
sleevedviolet 52 Posted February 12, 2017 Def gonna try Isopure thanks Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app
Newsoulz 11 Posted March 1, 2017 Def gonna try Isopure thanks Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile appI'm still preop but the Isopure zero carb drinks are the best. GNC has them and yes they are expensive but I would check the clearance. I got a bunch of them at 50% off. Also the GNC rtd lean shakes are pretty good. SBowen135 28 Posted March 1, 2017 I also use Isopure and I ordered it from bodybuilder.com, which is cheaper than GNC, and love it.
