I am 8 months out and for about the last 4 months or so I sweat heavily out of nowhere. I can be sitting for 5 minutes and stand up and my shorts will be wet and the chair looks as if I peed on it. Does anyone else have this problem?

How about put all your troubles into one post? Then we get a full picture ;)

You aren't eating or drinking, you aren't taking Vitamins, and you are totally blocked up. You poor thing! First thing is to research Vitamin Patches. That will help you a smidge. Talk to your doctor about a feeding tube or some other way to get nutrition. You are starving to death! It is a good idea to get the nurse out for the anti-nausea meds.. any thing to get you hydrated and feeling better. The sweating probably has something to do with all these other problems!

Just in case it's unrelated to your problems with the surgery, you might want to have your thyroid checked. An overactive thyroid makes you sweat like crazy.

I have had my thyroid checked when I was overweight and it came back showing levels that I should be under weight. I actually put in a request for my primary care to refer me to an endocrinologist.

Push harder on them to get in to see an endocrinologist! I was also hyperthyroid and should have been underweight, but in addition to revving your metabolism, it ups your appetite and I could eat out eat the increase in metabolism. An overactive thyroid is really dangerous for your heart. But it would absolutely explain the sweating. Other symptoms can be shaky hands, clammy skin, a very high resting heart rate, intolerance to heat (which you may not notice with the weight loss), if it's Graves Disease your eyes can start to be prominent and stick out a bit (I don't have Graves, I have a toxic nodule on my thyroid gland). Please get yourself checked!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
