Shannon W 14 Posted February 11, 2017 Surgery is scheduled for the 20th and I will need to travel about 4000 miles round trip very soon after. I will not have to drive but I will be in the car. I know it sounds impossible saying it but I do not want to put it off. I normally recover quickly, returning to work a couple days after a hysterectomy and three days after heart attack. If I pack well and focus on intake can this be done?Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
summbreeze 2 Posted February 12, 2017 I know you have to stop frequently and take a walk to prevent bloodclots. They're no joke, I've had them, and it can be life threatening. I recommend flying for a trip that far if at all possible. Even on the plane you'll need to get up and walk if it's a long flight. It's not about how quickly you heal or your threshold for pain. 2 GBLady41 and Shannon W reacted to this
Shannon W 14 Posted February 13, 2017 I appreciate the input. How long after surgery do you think it would be safe?
summbreeze 2 Posted February 13, 2017 I'd ask my Dr. He may put you on a clot preventative medicine if he knows of your travel plans
