I am currently 5 days post op and jumped on here because I'm currently on the purée diet and am ALREADY sick of it! They made sure I was on purée foods before I left the hospital on Wednesday the 8th. I'm staaaarving I have been eating Jello, cream of celery, cream of chicken, cream of wheat barffff I get full fast but there haaaaaas to be something more out there. Any recipes recommended? I know it's a mental thing but gosh damn , how am I going to get through 4 more weeks of this if I can't even handle it 5 days later.[emoji31][emoji31] best wishes to you miss Natalie

I feel the same way! Had my surgery 1/24 had broths for one week and now on full liquids which is just like Tomato Soup, grits, cream of wheat, oatmeal, and I have this horrible taste in my mouth from having nothing but liquids ! Are you allowed to eat chicken salad? I have a couple of Recipes's for that. I get upgraded to purée on Tuesday and all I want is a piece of cheese. Never in my life have I missed simple things like cheese or eggs. Salmon is allowed on my purée as well as tuna. [emoji30]

Lol I'm like she's so lucky ! I wasn't on full liquids till 1 week post op for a 2 week increment than moving on to purée
For two weeks, than finally soft foods by March 1. It's the repetitive eating of like 5 things that makes me wanna not eat at all sometimes

Stages and progressions vary widely from program to program. I, too, was on purees and soft foods in the hospital on out, with liquids in there as needed (particularly things like Protein Drinks, but also to fill in as needed if firmer things aren't tolerated well yet.) It's a big YMMV thing, just like pre-op diet regimens, or lack thereof.

I was given a stage 1 liquid tray to eat in the hospital and when they saw I tolerated the liquids just fine they brought in stage 2 tuna salad in the hospital. I've been on pureed foods since leaving the hospital. And while you may all miss eggs cheese and or fish. You are all definitely losing weight faster than I ever will. I'm 10'days post op and lost 4 lbs. I also came out of the hospital 8lbs heavier post op, I lost those 8 lbs and 4 on top of them but in the long run I'm only really down 4 lbs. enjoy your process. Each person is on a different regime based on their surgeon. But I'm noticing that those on Clear Liquids then all liquids that slowly transition to a pureed diet are def losing more weight post op.
Always look on the bright side!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
