The fatigue lasts a while. You are recovering from major surgery, which takes a lot of energy. I was having to nap daily up until I was on soft foods and could start getting more calories in.

I was still very pretty bad at 3 weeks post op so I think you're most likely doing fine. I'm almost 4 weeks out now and things are getting much better for me. I could drink so-so at 4 days but I spent 2 and 1/2 days in hospital from low potassium and just feeling so very poorly. At 3 weeks I finally called the doctor's office and talked with the RN would give me some much needed info/advice and encouragement. It really helped me. That was this past Monday and yesterday I ate 2-3 oz of cooked salad shrimp and did great with it. Before that couldn't eat a thing without feeling get restriction and lots of discomfort with eating. Drinking was not an issue. Be of good courage and call your doctor if you need advice and/or encouragement to go forward. You can do this!!!!! :D

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
