Hi everyone! I just found this app so I'm hoping it's going to be my new favorite thing!

Just went to a seminar last night with my husband. Am seriously considering the gastric sleeve and I'm super excited and nervous. I am about 90 lbs overweight. Have been overweight for the past 12 years. I feel this surgery will be the answer to my weight loss prayers! I have tried every diet out there. I have lost weight several times, only to gain it back.

I am waiting to hear back from the hospital after they check into my insurance. I am so ready for my new journey to begin!

I have already looked into my ins coverage myself. Looks like I have great coverage. Just need to wait til the hospital gets back to me.

All the best! I can relate with feeling that you simply want to get rid of the weight. But is this the solution?. I would say try another hundred diets before tearing away a vital organ. Look into reversible procedures like Gastric Picclation or Gastric Ballon!

This surgery may sound simple. But it's drastic and the only irreversible one. Even the gastric bypass can be reversed if your life is at risk.

There's so much we don't know. I don't know how our aging process will be impacted...what if we need a heavy use of NSAIDs or face stomach cancer?? That's just me and something I wish I did. It's all too late. I can see how irational to think I will be healthy by taking away 80% of my vital organ.

Regaing is real! This is not permanent. Isnt so scary that regain happens to most ppl! I lost most of my stomach and I can still regain? That can only mean that our stomachs are not the problem! Think about other reversible procedures where you have restriction and can still learn the same healthy food habits we should learn anyway

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
