Congrats on the weight loss! I assume part of that was preop!

What is your concern with Protein?

Berry78 Yes I lost 35lbs. before the diet and 22lbs pre-op and 6lbs. post-op. I just find it a little hard calculating some of the Proteins when your not eating the full amount of anything.

FAT2LESS My list for my two weeks says to avoid Protein drinks and supplements unless the surgeon says so. I have to get my Protein from my food and different kinds of milk.

I'm in the last few days of my first two weeks and I'm so sick of Protein Drinks I could scream. I arranged something with an Indian restaurant near my house. They will be making me puréed dishes with no seeds, high Protein low carb and fats for the next few weeks. I just picked up some cheesecloth for making paneer (yogurt cheese) and plan to stop at Trader Joe's for some Thai and Indian sauces and tofu. No puréed chicken breast for me!!!!

One way to calculate Protein would be figure out how much is in each ounce, and separate it by ounces on the plate. Let's say you are eating cottage cheese. 1/2 cup is approx. 4 ounces. Divide the dollop into 4 equal portions on the plate, then see how many of the little 1oz piles you eat. 1/2 cup has 13g of Protein, so each pile has about 3g of protein. (If you eat all 4, it's like you get a bonus gram! Lol).

Since you are basically needing to consume a ton of milk, how about try drinking 1 quart of fairlife milk a day. That will be 52g of protein right there, AND you get in 1/2 your fluids. (That may sound like a crazy amount of milk, but a pregnant or lactating woman is recommended to drink that, on top of normal meals! Your body is working at least as hard as a pregnant woman's during the healing phase!).

Hope something here helps!

Thank you that did help. I purchased soy milk from my list and found out I will get 6g of Protein but I only get 1.50g per 1\4cup. That's four out of six meals a day.[emoji21]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
