Okay, so I am 8 weeks out and thrilled to be 35 lbs down! Tonight my hub told me my voice has changed since the weight loss! Has anyone else had this experience?

When I was in middle school, we were admiring an opera singer's voice. Our music instructor said we'd need to gain about 200lbs to be able to sound like that.

Well, I showed him! (Gained the weight, but still don't sound like her!)
HA!

Voice is lower or higher? I haven't heard this before. I'm interested to see if anyone else has had this too.

Oh how I would love to be able to sing!! I sure hope this comes true for me...right now, I can't carry a tune in a hand basket!

Cindy, the best way to improve your singing voice is practice! Sing as much as you can, and you WILL get better!

Heavier people tend to have deeper pitched voices than lighter people. So... lose weight, and your voice might sound a bit higher pitched :) I think it is to do with the amount of flesh in and around the throat.

My Pulmonologist told me that when people lose weight, they lose it inside, too. He told me this after looking down my theist and noting that my epiglottis (i.e. Throat opening) is wider since I've lost the weight. Makes breathing easier and could change the timbre of your voice.

That would be great. I think I sound like a Muppet.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
