So I'm 4 weeks post op & I have been eating soft foods just fine for about a week. However, I think I may have hit a stall? My weight has been fluctuating between 5lbs since about the start of week 3. It'll go up 5lbs, then back down. But for the last few days, it's been fluctuating just a few ounces. Can someone tell me if I've hit a stall? I'm not sure if a stall means your weight just stays the same, or if you're not losing anymore past a certain point.

I'm quite frustrated but I'm trying not to be because #1 I've just started eating soft foods. #2, it's still early & #3 I should just stay off the scale. Though, inches wise, I'm not losing either. It's just frustrating because I'm working out, eating a sufficient amount of calories, and the only thing I can think of is Protein. Maybe I'm not getting in enough (I don't get in the recommended 60 daily )

I guess my ultimate question is: Is this normal to stall this early on?! When did you stall?! How did you break it?

I think everyone hits a stall or multiple stalls at some point or the other.

I am over 13 weeks post op and I have hit a few stalls that lasted for about 1-2 weeks at a time. The scale didn't budge at all. I was doing everything right... low carb, high Protein, calories were fine, was getting in over 64 ounces of liquids.

First, I would really like to suggest that you strongly work on getting that Protein up there over 60 grams a day. You need that. That might actually help you break your stall. I really think that going up to near 100 grams a day on my protein and drinking fluids, keeping the carbs low is a great combination that will help get the scale moving again. At least it worked for me.

At 4 weeks post op, and being on soft foods, you still may not be able to eat enough of your protein. I remember I could only get in close to 2 ounces of protein at 4 weeks. Supplement your protein with Protein shakes and/or unflavored Protein powder added to a non-caloric sugar free drink such as Crystal Light, Decaf iced tea, or Powerade Zero. Gotta get that protein up!

p.s. Yes it is normal to stall that early... my first stall hit after 2 weeks of losing. I have read here that a lot of people stall at 3 weeks. Your body has to have time to adjust, so it's normal.

@mylighthouse you were so so helpful!! Thank you!! I'm gonna try and choke down that Protein drink! Hahaha!! I know it's important but I just can't stomach it. I was hoping I could get it from my food sources alone but just like you said, I don't think I'm eating all 60 grams. [emoji20] I'm gonna try & up my fluids to the 64+ & get that Protein Shake down whether I like it or not. Hahaha! Thank you!

It's important to keep your carbs low for each meal. 15 grams is the target I was given. Make sure you aren't getting too much sodium either, that causes Water retention.

Keep the fluids going, get at least the 64oz and get in all your Protein. And walk walk walk. I did some fluctuations as well. See, our bodies don't like to lose weight this quickly. Our metabolism thinks something's wrong, that you are starving to death. So what it does is sllllloooooooowwwww doooooooowwwwwnnnn to a crawl. Then when you start adding more calories, carbs and fat your body goes "OH GOODIE!! Let's STORE THIS!" and bamn, a lb or a few. So it's super important you follow the plan.

It takes about 3 years for our metabolisms to bounce back. That's why it's so important to follow the eating guidelines for the next few years. We can gain back our weight really easily because our metabolism doesn't really get what we are doing to it. lol

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

        Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
