6 Months of Nutrition Classes - DONE!

Recommended Posts

I'm so happy to report that I had the last of my 6-month nutrition classes this morning! At times it felt like the longest six months. I wasn't a huge fan of the classes (mostly the other people in them). I did learn some new things along the way, which was good. Now all I have left is to get my pulmonary clearance (appointment scheduled later this month) and complete a visit with the dietitian at the surgeon's office (appointment next week). Things feel like they're finally moving along!

I had my last class this month. I am just waiting on seeing the nurse practitioner and then getting approved. My only problem is that when I went to see the pulmonary dr, I found out I have sleep apnea and having been waiting for over a month for my cpap machine

That's a long time to wait for your cpap machine. I, too, found out that I have sleep apnea. I've had my cpap machine for a few weeks now. Hopefully you will get your machine soon!!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
