I really just had no taste at all. I usually like ice cold plain Water, but now I need a little crystal light for some flavor. I think I'm just healing. I would just concentrate on drinking more.

Did you have the sleeve? I am getting so nervous. I'm more afraid of conplications than anything else. My head is 100% ready to nake changes, I just dont want the "fear" to make me change my mind.

Things don't taste different to me, but they feel different. Warm feels better than cold. Water hurt the first day I had it. broth is awesome. And none of it goes down fast, so drinking is an all day sipping affair. Buy what you need to get through the first week and have some variety in case some things don't sit well and you need to switch.

Ok. I'm so nervous! I heard that if you don't drink enough, they won't send you home from the hospital. I have such a hard time drinking NOW, I hope it's easier after my surgery.

And they shouldn't because it's so easy to get dehydrated if you don't get enough. So if you can't demonstrate to them that you can do it, they'll keep you. Physically it is so much harder to drink after. I take a small sip, sometimes get a little discomfort and then feel it gurgle and bubble through. Once that passes you can try again. But an ounce every 15 minutes early on is hard.

@Risa900 I'm pretty sure they're sugar free! I think they're sweetened with aspartame, which some people have a problem with, but I don't worry about it.

I have this same issue. Sometimes I don't to the bathroom for hours...and I don't get in enough fluids. I hate the taste of plain Water and have been drinking Isopure Protein water and coconut water everyday. I bought some Gatorade G2 so I'll see how my body reacts to it. My doctor said I need to drink 64oz of fluids a day...but I barely get in 32oz.

Dehydration is no joke. 10 days postop I was very dehydrated. Went to my doctor and requested IV fluids. Bounced back immediately and felt great. Now with a new reset on my hydration I am better able to get in my 64+ ounces. Don't be afraid to ask for the IV fluids if your dehydrated. I was getting dizzy and having muscle cramps and so fatigued that I needed to nap after taking a shower or climbing a set of stairs. No exaggeration. I was lucky she was able to do it right there in the office. But it would have been worth it trip to the ER just to get those fluids. It has made a complete world of difference in my ability to function. And now I'm just keeping up instead of catching up with my fluids.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
