What were you scared of?

I see so many of us share the same fears, complications and/or not waking up. I'm a single mother of four, two are basically grown the other two, not so much. I lost my husband almost 13 years ago, so my fears are exasperated by the thought that they will have no parent left is something goes horribly wrong. But I've researched the stats, and the pros outweigh the cons and I put my faith in God that the worse case scenario will not happen. We all want to be healthy, so we are taking steps to be so.

I've had multiple surgeries. Call me loco, but I didn't have fears going in and I feel the same way with the sleeve. I don't even have a fear of gaining anything back, cause I won't. Just as @sleeveme17 says: "Prayer and just asking the Lord to order our steps. Faith trust and believe" <----EXACTLY THIS. :)

Wow .. I was just talking to my sister about this same issue. She had hers in December and mine is in march. Prayer [emoji120] and just asking the Lord to order our steps. Faith trust and believe .

I was worried about the procedure itself and if I could do it.

I was/am worried I would fail too. Those fears are there and can help us to rise above. Stumbling block/stepping stone. I'm trying to use this thinking to help me.

My biggest fear was and is still long term issues. I did a lot of research on complications in the long run.

Things like
vitamin deficiencies (my step mom and dad who both had rny deal with this),

And reactive hypoglycemia (my dad developed this),

Mostly so I could know what to look for, what to do and when possible prevent issues. Not to be an alarmist, but to be prepared and know as much as I could. Won't know everything but knowing helps me face my fears.

I wish you all the best in facing those fears. You can do more than you know.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
