HI everyone, I just had my Lap Band out 2 weeks ago. I am into the healing stage. So in 3 months I'll have the bypass. Excited. Has anyone out there that has gone down this path? Would love to hear it went for you. Are you happier with the bypass.

Hi V, I had lap band for 7 years and struggled with slippage. I had it removed in 2015 and am now starting my journey toward RNY. I'm sorry I can't answer your question but I'm interested in future responses you get.

I am also interested in the responses you get. I just got my lap band removed Feb 8, after having it for 6 years. I meet with my surgeon again in 3 months to allow healing and decide whether I want to pursue sleeve or bypass. I was leaning towards having another WLS. And that push became stronger when I found out I am now considered diabetic.

I had my lap band removed 6 weeks ago after having it 13 years. My plan for months has been to have the sleeve but now I'm starting to wonder if the bypass is better. I just want to get healthy and STAY healthy this time.

@stacey99 originally I was going to go to sleeve but I was told because I still had restriction from the lap band (only had it for 3 years) it would not benefit me and would not give me the results that I wanted

That is exactly how I feel. I do feel the bypass is the way to go. I have done alot of research and feel good with my decision. I do need to be more committed. It wasn't all the bands fault, I have to take part of the blame for the failure. So this time I really have to work on a life style. I am starting now! I am so happy for you also!! My date is May 15th Yayyyyy . How about you?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
