Did you get a recliner? I'm planning to just have lots of pillows, and hoping for the best!

I moved from bed to recliner. I could not lie flat for weeks pillows everywhere! As had a bun created my back side hurt. I stayed ahead of pain but!!!! The pain was no joke. Got better as I went from binder to compression wear. Hang in there!

I found a memory foam kids chair at Wal-mart that both makes my recliner more comfy (it was too soft and I get stuck!) then I use it in bed as my pillow (my head fits in the "seat"!). I sleep in bed now & getting out sucked but I tied a long thick ribbon to the footboard and a handle to the other end. It's been a miracle ribbon since I can pull myself up without any pain or assistance .

Clever! I had taken pillows from my spare room bolsters from my gym and other pillow type stuff from the home. I think people make it work with what they have or what they get

No kidding! When my wife suggested we get it I wasn't to sure how it would work but it's incredibly awesome.

I love the ribbon with a handle idea! And that kids chair… very clever! Glad to hear that you're already able to get out of bed without pain. I live alone, but I'll be staying with my parents immediately after surgery. I'm curious if you feel like you could be on your own at this point. Just trying to get an idea of how long it'll be before I can get back home.

Funny you would ask today is my first day alone and so far I'm doing okay. I also work from home so I'm working today and haven't ran into any terrible problems other than I'm pretty tired.

I did get a walker from Amazon that I'm using to get around just because I get tired at a moments notice so its perfect to lean on & we have a rambunctious pit bull puppy that I really don't want to jump on me. She usually doesn't but I'm glad for the extra bit of protection since she's a bull in a china shop most days.

I'm still on some of my pain meds. First let me say keeping a running "Meds Schedule" has really helped me stay on track because I know what I took and when... My pain pump (numbed the muscle work) was pulled out Sunday and I haven't really missed it; just excited the extra tubes are gone. I was on 2 Nucynta 50mg every 4 hours and I'm sure having someone keep me on that schedule day 1-2 was why I don't remember a lot of pain. I'm on extra strength Tylenol throughout the day but I do take a Nucynta before bed.

I definitively have pillows everywhere! My latest obsession is my belly button - it looks so weird to me.

I have 2 cats, and I'm definitely worried about keeping them from jumping on me! And I had planned to take 2 1/2-3 1/2 weeks off work completely, but I'm going to need to work from home while I'm recovering, so glad to hear you're feeling up to it already!

I won't have a pain pump, but I plan to stay on a schedule with my pain killers for at least the first 3-4 days, so hopefully that'll be enough for a fairly smooth recovery.

Tomorrow is my big day… can't wait!!

Hiya folks. Wanted to post a couple quick pictures just to update. I'm still really tired & my lower back hurts some but I have no pain from my incisions. I have a follow up appointment today with my surgeon Dr Lund.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
