There are plenty of Protein pastas out there, black bean Pasta, red lentil Pasta, chickpea pasta... there is also spiralizers that you can make veggie noodles with. There are plenty of options so that you don't have to fall back on the nutritionally worthless carb pasta.

Also, you may find that if you try traditional pasta, it no longer tastes like you remember and it goes down horribly. It clings and clumps up in my esophagus something terrible.

I bought Protein Pasta and I think the box it came in would have been tastier.

So, I just don't have it.

I bought a veggie spiralizer and I love yellow squash and zucchini mix as my Pasta. Plus my son loves helping me make it. I tried a bite of pasta on my husbands plate and ended up spitting it out. It was not the way I remembered it and I didn't care for it at all. Even the texture was off putting. I've made those mozzarella cheese noodles and they were super yummy. Just keep trying new things. I promise it's not worth eating.

I eat regular Pasta once or twice a week. In fact, I just ate pasta today. 220 pounds later and still doing well. My 90+ year old Italian grandparents eat pasta almost daily. They don't even know what a carb is.

Everyone is different. Pasta still tastes amazing to me. I don't have it often. Maybe once a month if that. When I do, it's only like an ounce of noodles themselves. But I agree, I bought the Protein pasta and it was disgusting.

I Pinterest a lot and found these noodles from a Keto recipe. Not sure how they taste seeing that I'm only 2 weeks post op but they're good reviews.ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1486526284.327900.jpg

I haven't had any Pasta in almost 11 months. It really isn't a big deal to me now. I don't miss it at all, but if I ever had it even once, I'd be back to craving it every minute.

@janedoe92 - those noodles are... interesting? When you open the package they are overwhelmingly fishy smelling. After lots of rinsing, they have no smell an zero flavor. The texture is hard to describe. I would say almost gelatinous, a bit more substantial than a bean sprout.

We only tried them twice. While edible, they are not something most people will crave I'm thinking!

Doesn't sound appetizing at all, thanks for the heads up, definitely won't be trying those.

Well, eat it... your body will tell you if it likes to stomach Pasta or not. You need to experiment.

Or is your team strictly against pasta for some reason?

I think the Shirataki Pasta is quite interesting. It tastes quite good in the traditional Asian recipes it is usually used in. However, I'm a bit wary to try them after the MGB, they gave me diarrhea before MGB if I ate too much of them and "too much" wasn't much of a quantity.

As for Protein pasta. I like the bean pastas (they are quite expensive though and I somehow doubt that their nutritional value is that much higher compared to the regular stuff). If one wants to try "protein pasta", I think the stuff myprotein sells is quite alright.

I'm still in the pre-op stage until Tuesday and have been craving Pasta like crazy on my pre-op diet. It's refreshing to know it's still an option months out. Has anyone tried the Dreamfield Pasta? I used it when I was doing low carb dieting in the past and it was really good.

I use Creamette 150 Pasta. Little fewer calories than regular Pasta. I also do not care about carbs though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
