Normal! That's exactly what I'm going trough. Through this process I was just ready to get it done with. Now that I have an actual date, and start my liquid diet tomorrow, I'm completely paranoid and scared.

We got this. We will be okay!

I got nervous the day before my surgery date 2 years ago. And backed out last minute at the hospital. I wasnt ready mentally and didnt tell myself I really need this. I was afraid of change. Now 2 years later Im set for surgery once again on the 27th of February. Im not backing out this time. I want to live longer and more healthy, I know Im teetering on 300lbs now but in the future can easily go up to 350-400lbs given my genetics. Why fight my genetics any more?

Being nervous of change is normal. This time around I did way more research and asked around more. The common answer I got was "it was the greatest decision I ever made"....Followed by "I wish I did it 10 years ago."

Congratulations! I received my call on Thursday for approval surgery date is set for March 9th!

It's incredible how the fear shifts from worry about not getting approved, to "OMG, this is really happening!!"

We will look back on this and be so happy with our decision.

Best of luck to you.

It is a ton of anxiety leading up to the day. The worst will be the day before and trying to sleep that night. I literally cried in the shower that morning and had a sick feeling in my stomach like it knew what I was about to do to it. I ultimately backed out of the procedure. I needed to try one more time. I proved to myself that I will not make the needed changes to my lifestyle without drastic intervention. Im very active and do work out a lot but could never get down to the weight I want to be, my body fought me every step of the way due to genetics. This is me in 6th grade. 185lbs. I left grammar school at 248lbs, thats some serious genetics I had to fight my whole life. Im done, I give up...I need help and had to admit it to myself.

When I went back to the surgeon after 2 years I told him "Im ready to let you help me save my life"...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
