I am 4 months into my weightless appointments. I go for my sleep apnea test on the 15th of March, and that will be everything finished except seeing a nutritionist. I'm getting excited, but nervous too. I have been overweight for the last 10 years, and I am so tired of letting weight control my life. I have heard so many horror stories about this surgery. How did you all do? Is there an amount of weight they want you to loose before surgery.

First congratulations on your 4months into your appointments & your upcoming sleep apnea test. I have to do a sleep study consultation on the 17th of this month before I do the actual sleep apnea test. I won't be finished with my dietician appointments until august...that sucks for me but I'm just going to use this time to mentally prepare for the surgery. & I understand completely...I've been battling weight since I was 9yrs old. I'll be 26 in May & it's just time for me to make the change so I can feel better about myself. So hang in there & try not to think about the horror stories & focus on the success stories. Believe me the horror stories will just mess you up mentally & discourage you; like it did me until I just focused on the success stories. & my insurance does have a bmi requirement; I believe you can't be over 50.

Congratulations to you too. August will be here before you know it. My last weigh in will be May 5th. I lost 95 pounds a few years ago, and felt fabulous. I had to spend 4 hours a day in the gym, and that was no kind of life. I just need this surgery so bad. I need to stay off the internet looking at horrible stories. My main thing is thinking what if I have this surgery, and then leave my girls with no mom? That is so scary.

Thanks. & yeah my friend had the gastric bypass done 7mos ago and that was her exact concern; leaving her 2 daughters behind. But she looks and feels amazing is what she tells me daily. You will definitely be in my prayers; I don't know that feeling because I don't have any children but I'm no stranger to harder surgeries (I've had 4 hip surgeries/tonsillectomy...) just to name a few and I've always done great.

Congrats on losing the 95lbs that's amazing...I'm going to set myself on a short term goal to lose 20lbs by August. Although I know I will lose more I just want to drop 20 & not go below the Bmi. Yes, please stay off those horrible stories I'm telling you it only puts fear in you and you didn't come this far to back out now. Think about what this means for you and your girls in the future.

I have had a breast reduction, tonsillectomy, 3 csections, gallbladder removed, cyst removed from my foot, and I have always done well too. I bet the hip surgery was the worst. I have gained all of the 95 pounds back, uggg. I know I need this tool to help keep it off. I'm going to take your advice, and not look at anymore stories, lol.. I know we both are going to do great.

Oh goodness tonsillectomy is awful as an adult I just had one two years ago!

Just remember, people are more likely to tell you about the bad things than the good with surgery. Our brains tend to forget positive experiences but they remember negative ones for some reason. It's perfectly fine to be nervous but just think about what all you'll be able to do with your children after surgery!

I was 27 when I had my tonsillectomy, I thought I was gonna die, lol. I deal well with pain, no pain meds with any of my csections, but I took my meds every 4 hours when I had my tonsillectomy, lol... I know I will feel so much better, my feet hurt all the time now...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
