Jcreasey 4 Posted February 7, 2017 I'm two weeks post op today and starting phase 2 puréed food. But is there a daily calorie range I'm supposed to meet? I can't really find anything about it in my packet I got from my surgeon. Thanks guys:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Diva T 62 Posted February 7, 2017 The calories and nutrition really come from your Vitamins and Protein shakes. The eating foods at s point is about adjusting our stomachs to eating again. Our stomachs are tiny and can only hold about 2 ounces at this point. Eat VERY SLOWLY to avoid the restriction feeling and to not over eat. We can't really eat too many calories at this point. Just cannot hold enough food for that. I found out yesterday that I was not getting enough carbs. No one ever told me about eating carbs in any classes. So I ate veggie/fruit baby food and with every tiny bite waited a full 2 minutes or longer between each bite. This worked very well for me. No restriction, backup into my throat and I could tell when I was satisfied and not take even 1 more tiny bite. Sometimes that's all it takes to push one over the comfortable edge. Good luck and I hope this helps!
Travelher 915 Posted February 7, 2017 in the early weeks you don't need to be worrying about calories. just work on meeting your Protein, Water and and Vitamin goals. Once you are further out you can start working on getting your calories up. I'm 4 months post op and range between 800-950 now will goal being 950. in the first month it was more like 400-600, then 500-700, then 700-800. but early on the focus was more on Protein and Water.
